St Luke’s Gas Street was once an industrial site for manufacturing gas. That gas was used to power the street lamps that illuminated the area surrounding this part of the city. The Old Gas Works is a grade 1 listed building which was converted in to a new church for the Church of England.
Palings installed a new ventilation system, comprising of an Air Handling Unit, heat pump and associated ductwork to heat the new main hall and cafeteria areas. Domestic water services were also installed to new toilets areas.
Due to the nature of the building, the install was far from straight forward and even though there were constraints and specialist bracketry required throughout, the church was successfully handed over for their opening event in February 2016.
